 The Occupational Health Nurse will be responsible for providing occupational health nursing, medical, and integrated health and wellness services consistent with the policies, guidelines, objectives, and content of the Ortho Health Services Program. 

The Occupational Health Nurse will manage a cross function health and wellness team at a single site or multiple near proximity sites and is responsible for the provision of a wide range of health services, including Occupational Medicine, Wellness & Health Promotion programs and Employee Assistance programs. S/he will collaborate with Occupational Health Nurses, administrative staff and occupational health technician(s).   S/He is accountable for the overall success of health programs delivered by vendors in the areas of wellness, fitness and employee assistance. S/he is accountable for the deployment and performance of Health and Wellness strategies, policies and standards for occupational health, wellness & health promotion and employee assistance programs for all employees at the site.

 
Responsibilities

  • Successful implementation of all Health Resource services (Occupational Health, Wellness and EAP) by applying developed strategies, resources and tools.
  • Provides clinical healthcare services including: Nursing care for Injuries & illnesses, Case Management of Occupational Injuries and Illness, Medical Surveillance examination and general health education and coaching.
  • Drives increased health outcomes through education, including reducing population health risks, managing and eliminating workplace health risks and supporting improved business outcomes through advancing employee health and well-being.
  • Responsible for Occupational health compliance including, compliance with applicable OSHA regulations and record keeping and Ortho Health Resource standards.
  • Collaborate with manager on health metrics and outcomes
  • Responsible for meeting site budget expectations
  • Responsible for implementation of Ortho Medical Emergency Response Guidelines.
  • Demonstrates outstanding leadership skills; ability to gain trust and influence at all levels; collaborative.
  • Maintains accurate documentation (EMR).
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Collaborates with HR and Environmental Safety team fostering integrated team approach.
  • Willingness to acquire knowledge of occupational hazards and treatment for exposures in all locations.
  • Leads team and local HR, site managers, EHS, and other stakeholders in the local application of a health and well-being strategy.
  • Qualifications
  • BSN in Nursing or healthcare related field preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey required.
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or COHN-S certification preferred.
  • CAOHC Hearing Conservation certification required (or must be willing to acquire within 12 months of hire).
  • NIOSH Spirometry required (or must be willing to acquire within 12 months of hire).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a professional nurse preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Occupational Health Nursing experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills required.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory areas (ie ADA, OSHA, FMLA and/or Workers' Compensation), ergonomics required.
  • Phlebotomy skills required.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point is required.
  • Familiarity with America Association Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) strongly preferred.
  • Health coaching training/certification preferred.
  • Current healthcare provider CPR/AED certification required.
  • Ability to work in a matrix, team-oriented environment required.
  • This Part-Time position is located in Raritan, NJ and is eligible for benefits - working hours 19.5.
